A Cleanse for Transition

December 22, 2019 by Rachel Figura

In support of my transition toward new beginnings, I’ve been on a Candida Cleanse. For those of you who do not know about the dangers of excess candida growth and gut toxins, I suggest you do a little googling. Try “candida Imbalance” and see what comes up.

In a nutshell, Candida is a type of yeast that grows in your body. Small amounts are normal, but if candida grows too much, all hell can break loose. When the bacteria in your gut becomes imbalanced, the overgrowth of candida can result is digestive issues, including constipation, diarrhea, nausea, gas, cramps and bloating. Not fun.

So how do you fix it? You need to start a cleanse….No sugar, no carbs, no red meat, no dairy, no caffeine, no beans!! (I cheat a bit!)

What can you eat? Lots of greens. Healthy fats. Lean white meat and some nuts and seeds. I move a lot, so I need calories! So don’t starve yourself.

After the first two weeks of a cleanse, you may get difficult cravings and a tired, moody disposition. But after that, you’ll emerge more alert, energetic and with a new, positive attitude.

My garden is full of herbs and greens, flowers and seeds. So I create my own organic pesto. Here is a great recipe with oils full of essential fatty acids and almonds for protein. Oregano is antibacterial as is garlic, in a addition anti parasitic.

Daily doses of this pesto can help curb cravings and help you stay on your healthy cleanse.

Oregano Pesto

1 cup fresh oregano leaves

1/3 cup almonds

1/4 cup asiago (if using cheese)

1 chunky clove of garlic

Olive oil for desired consistency

I like to use in addition some avocado oil

Place all solid ingredients in food processor.

Process into a fine blend

Add oil and salt to preference.

Yum on everything; especially a spoon!

Happy; healthy eating to feed your soul!

Empty Nest and New Beginnings

November 1, 2019 by Rachel Figura

New Chapter

So my son has launched and I’m so proud, and equally sad.

It’s what we all wish for our children— to excel and make their lives happen. We hope they will find happiness as an adult. My son’s fierce independence took me by surprise. He joined the coast guard and moved to the East Coast. Now he is thriving and I am amazed at his competence and inner strength.

Everyone warns you of the “empty nest” syndrome, but it’s only once some time has passed that you realize the world has become very different. A strange quiet has settled over my house. As the silence persists, you feel the empty space where there was once so much activity, growth, love, frustration and often conflict.

It’s a bittersweet season of life as I go through the clutter of his belongings. Memories of his little face and squirrely laughter bombard me. The many times he got into mischief, the tears when he was hurt and the sweet moments when he expressed his love. I have a good memory, which is a blessing and a curse. I find that many gifts have this polarity.

So when I feel overwhelmed, I practice a one-pointed focus, using techniques such as chanting a mantra of support. I use the space to create a meditative quiet in my mind and connect to universal consciousness.

I do this so I can move forward and live a full life.

I let go of the past that I cannot change, and imagine a prosperous future on all levels. To do this kind of work, we have to trust that Spirit will guide us toward proper choices.

Now I’m ready to create my new chapter. #sohum

Welcome

August 17, 2019 by Rachel Figura

Bee Free!

Good morning friends and potential followers, welcome to my website!

I’m a yoga teacher, classically trained in various modalities such as massage, astrology and intuitive readings. I also work creatively doing haircuts and color.

As a single mother in a demanding world, I found yoga to be an empowering practice, allowing me to center myself in turbulent times and access energy directly. Now I want to help you find the true essence of this ancient healing art.

Through breathwork and asana (the postures of yoga), deep healing occurs. The techniques of yoga include mantra, meditation and body/mind awareness. Cultivating a refined awareness to create a more fulfilling life.

Over the years, I’ve shared my teachings with thousands of students, to help them find freedom and inner power. Now let me give them to you!

I have an affinity for nature and the wisdom of the earth. Through the application of natural oils, holistic nutrition, symbolic observation, and contemplation, there is a path that leads to balance and happiness!

Over the last three years, honey bees visit my yard in swarms to drink from the many bird baths and watering spots. Twice a day I check on and fill up their water. They seem to know me and allow me to invade their ritual and offer sustenance to the colony. The symbolism of the Queen and her worker bees reminds me that my work is never done and many rely on me!

Nature and her symbolism inspire me. Yoga creates inner awareness and freedom. So, join me in an exploration of tools and techniques that will allow you to live a better life and create a more powerful future.

I will post my thoughts, meditations and insights, to help you on your path.

Ciao!
